Kickstart The Future

Kickstart The Future: How To Make The Studio System Obsolete... With Love! It's a manifesto about the future of film making, and how you can get started today. Also, some dignified self promotion. You can read it over at Junior Varsity right now. "It's like my old summer job of working road construction. I may experience the usual emotional dread while returning home for the holidays, but there's still a two-mile stretch just off the main drag where, I assure you, the gutters are mathematically perfect and will remain that way for decades to come. And I'm damn proud of that."

Act Naturally Pre-Release Screenings & The Comedy Store Show

Act Naturally Pre-Release Screenings The time has finally come to unleash "Act Naturally" upon the world. If you don't know, ActNat is a film I co-wrote and acted in, about two girls who unwittingly inherit their dead father's nudist resort. We've been doing a series of early screenings, in both clothed and "clothing optional" formats. There's a few upcoming screenings, including the first in Los Angeles proper. Even if you don't like the movie, there's a guarantee of seeing naked people, both on screen and sitting next to you. That's something. Right? I mean, you'll like the movie......

First Show For The SixtyNineties, Comic Book Zeroes, Nathan Matsuda Spec Ads

First Show For The SixtyNineties and Plot Moat Just booked the first show for our band The 60/90's... a one-hit wonder cover band, doing songs only from the sixties and the nineties.  We're celebrating the one year late 30th birthday of our guitarist, Aaron Gershman. Also, we'll be debuting the first three or four songs from the electropop duo Plot Moat. So, double dose of Brock Rock. In Aaron's Words: "HOLY SHIT THE VFW HALL IS SO FUCKING COOL!! Not convinced? Picture this: free parking, $3 beers, $4 cocktails and billiards -- all in a genuine LA dive bar that is 100% hipster-free....

Through The Titlted Glass

Through The Tilted Glass College project with friends. Early stab at acting, along with soundtrack work. It's hard to do a "weird" new vision of "Alice In Wonderland", but I think we pulled it off.

The Socratic Puppies Meme, Inception, My 2010 in Lists

JV: The Socratic Puppies meme is already played out: http://www.thejuniorvarsity.org/2010/socraticimplode.html "Cultural criticism eating itself from the inside out... It's like watching a red giant implode into a black hole, but with puppies."   JV: Franchise rights available Part 1 in a 7-part series on Inception. http://thejuniorvarsity.org/2010/franchiserightsavailable.html "It's not just a small group of people with one or two devices, because corporations train their top people to defend against mind attacks. So how many devices are out there? Is this Black Ops stuff,...

JV: Resident Evil and the four-act structure

The one thing that director Paul W. S. Anderson gets right. (Almost) http://thejuniorvarsity.org/2010/residentevil.html "Yes, he may not have taken Milla Jovovich's v-card, but as her husband he does get to swipe her Multipass."

Conan & Edgar Wright

JV: Coco Rebellion I attended the fateful Coco Rebellion of Burbank on MLK Day. Best. Protest. Ever. http://thejuniorvarsity.org/2010/thecocorebellion.html In the end, this is probably exactly what Conan fans should want for him. Nothing puts it all into perspective like Conan's comment during his Tuesday night show. When discussing the rumors that he won't be able to take his characters with him: "Only in America can a cigar smoking dog and a masturbating bear be considered intellectual property. USA! USA!" JV: God bless Edgar Wright Part 5 in a weeklong series on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. http://thejuniorvarsity.org/2010/godblessedgarwright.html?sms_ss=twitter "For...
