Save Point & The SixtyNineties

August 1st Stand-Up and Save Point Debut

I’ll be performing Monday, August 1st at The Comedy Store (8433 West Sunset Boulevard) in The Main Room for the 8pm show with Michael Quu. Hit me up if you’re coming, so I can get you on the list.

Also, as promised, I’ve begun contributing to the blog SAVE POINT, run by Your Friends Close starlet Lisa Foiles. Today I have a piece running on the rip-off that is “Dead Rising 2: Off The Record” and how I’m powerless to not purchase it. Yesterday, we kicked off with a new series wherein Lisa emails me a random photo and I have 3 minutes or less to write a short story/poem/news article about it. We begin with “On Hosed Owl In Mid-Summer Sun”. Because this is why we invented the internet.

UPDATE: Show cancelled due to special event. You can catch me next Monday (8/8) at The Comedy Store. And every Monday after that. Forever.

Review: “Final Destination 5” + New 60/90’s Concert

My review of “Final Destination 5”, and a breakdown of my personal struggles with the horror genre, is running today on The Junior Varsity. Give it a read… if you dare! Seriously. It is of some length. But Miles Fisher in 3D! Nicholas D’Agosto working at another paper company! (He works at a paper company in FD5, but he was also on The Office… it’s funny. I promise.)
“There’s a reason that horror films are always financially successful. Few other genres guarantee a reaction. You can have a boring drama that elicits no tears, a comedy that begets no laughs, or a romance that fails to tug at your heartstrings. A good horror film will scare the shit out of you, but a bad one will make you laugh. It’s like how broken escalators become stairs. You have to try hard to really fail. (Looking at you, Lohan.)”
In rock and roll news:

The Sixty-Nineties are playing a benefit concert next month, on the night before my birthday. So much to celebrate, so little time, so many great songs. We’re benefiting Little Kids Rock music education, and the kids should be there, which is “baller”. We’ll be performing with some stand-up comedians, a White Stripes tribute band, and some dancers. Tickets are available at the door or here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/191556

(For those of you who don’t know, The Sixty-Nineties are this awesome band that I may be a part of. We cover only one-hit wonders from the 60’s and the 90’s. Get it? No? Read more about us here.)
